RESEARCH STUDY TO INFORM THE SECTORAL SKILLS PLANS OF CATHSSETA: EMPLOYER INSIGHTS
The North-West University’s (NWU) Tourism Research in Economic, Environs and Society (TREES) research unit under the auspices of CATHSSETA is developing Sub-sectoral Skills Plans (SSPs) for the Conservation, Hospitality and Tourism and Travel Services sub-sectors. In this part of the study, we request you to complete the questionnaire and participate in our study. The ethics clearance number: NWU-00651-25-A4. Please note the following:
Your participation in this research is voluntary; you will not receive any form of compensation for completing the survey.
The questionnaire contains socio-demographic information to provide policymakers with valuable information regarding the profile of the sector. Your socio-demographic information will not be used to single you out from the sample.
The questionnaire includes questions concerning your qualifications and skills. It is anticipated that the information you will provide will give policy-makers and implementing agencies, such as CATHSSETA, a better understanding of labour market needs and skills levels within the sector. Your opinions will also be part of a collective profile; thus, no individual responses will be singled out.
Your information will remain confidential per the POPI Act (2013). No personal information that can link the data to you will be asked. Responses from each individual will not be identified, but the results will be presented in aggregate (the group results will be presented as a whole) and no individual results will be reported. Please do not include personal details such as your contact information.
All data obtained is stored on a password-protected server (Nextcloud) at TREES, North-West University, South Africa, with access potentially being granted to CATHSSETA on an ad hoc basis. The research results will be published as a report to CATHSSETA, possibly some peer-reviewed academic publications, policy advisories, ad hoc reports and models.
This questionnaire should take approximately 40-50 minutes to complete. If you feel, at any time, that you want to halt participation in this study, please feel free to do so without judgement. While it will be required that respondents answer each question, if you feel, at any time, that you want to halt participation in this study, please feel free to do so.
If you are comfortable with the content and you have no objections, please continue to complete the questionnaire. By completing this questionnaire, you consent that this information may be used for research purposes. For any further information, feel free to contact the principal researcher, Prof E. Slabbert, at elmarie.slabbert@nwu.ac.za.
